The brief was to create a multifunctional building; a peaceful retreat for writing, storage space for surf boards and a bike shed.

The writing room occupies the majority of the width of the garden wrapping around an external terrace which catches the morning sun. Spatially efficient cupboard style storage is tucked to the side and rear.

The external timber cladding was designed and chosen for its warmth and its form helps create a “cabin-in-the-woods”, which was an inspiration for the client.
